 The
Kentucky Derby Festival Pegasus Sponsorship and Pin
Program provide not only an invaluable source of
revenue, but a visible show of support for the festival
and its events. The program
– with its trademark winged horse icon - has become
a model in the industry that many other festivals have
tried to duplicate. Pegasus Pins and other merchandise
capture the heart and soul of the festival, as well
as being highly sought as collectibles.
"New Tradition: Derby Festival Pin Trading"
Whether you're a hobbyist, a collector, or simply a
big fan of the Kentucky Derby Festival, this new tradition
will surely get you going! (to more events, that is).
It's a new twist on the Derby Festival this year and
it's called Derby Festival
Pin Trading. Stop stuffing your old pins into that
tired drawer year after year! Show the community how
much pride you have in the Derby Festival and the many
events it provides to the public. Derby Festival fans
can trade their event pins with other fans, pin enthusiasts,
Derby Festival board members, and Kentucky Derby Festival
Trading Team Members. You can get started by purchasing
a pin trading starter kit that includes a pin trading
ID card, (4) 2003 Derby Festival Event Pins, and a Lanyard
on which to display them. You can purchase event pins
from previous years and the entire collection of current
pins at the Pin Trading Venues, as well as A Taste of
Kentucky in Mall St. Matthews. Pin Trading locations
will be set up at Festival events such as the Thunder
Over Louisville, Great Balloon Race and Glow, Great
Bed Races, Parade Preview and the Final Grand Prize
Drawings.
And you thought there was just one little Pegasus Pin.
Well, start collecting, because this year 122 different
pins will be featured in the 2003 Derby Festival Pin
Collection. Most can be purchased, but some just have
to be sought out by resourceful traders. (Get some rest
before heading to the Great Balloon Glow for those hard-to-get
balloon pins!) Happyhunting!

- 68 Event/Corporate Pins
- 7 Plastic Pegasus Pins including the gold instant
win and return pins*

New this year are 4 Pegasus Pin designs in addition
to the original "Pegasus" (Parade, Thunder,
miniMarathon and Balloon Race), 5 Pin Trading Pins,
and 3 new event pins (They're Off Luncheon, Celebrity
Luncheon, Pro-Am Golf Tournament)
*Official KDF Pin Traders will
only be able to trade metal pins with the public.
